Today, Lasinja has processed over $5 million in payroll, and we’re just getting started.
Do you ever feel like life in the Virgin Islands is just a little harder than it needs to be? That’s how I felt when I hired my first employees. Payroll was a chore, especially when none of the big-name platforms supported our local tax structure. QuickBooks Online didn’t work for the Virgin Islands, and while ADP was an option, the cost made it out of reach for many small businesses.
So I built a spreadsheet. It did the job ... for a while. But after a filing mistake caused by someone transposing numbers, I realized how risky and outdated our process really was. There had to be a better way. I needed something that reflected how we do business here and helped us move forward.
That moment sparked what would eventually become Lasinja. It’s not just payroll software. It’s a step toward digital independence. There are over 3,000 employers in the Virgin Islands, and most still rely on QuickBooks Desktop, ADP, or a local bookkeeper. But QuickBooks Desktop is being phased out, and the alternatives either don’t support us or cost too much. Lasinja is designed to fill that gap, accurately calculating payroll, generating local tax forms, emailing pay statements, and reducing the time and stress that come with compliance.
Today, Lasinja has processed over $5 million in payroll, and we’re just getting started. The most common thing I hear from new users is: “Wait, this was made here?” Yes. Right here. Because we deserve modern tools that actually work for us. Lasinja isn’t just software, it’s a tool shaped by experience, built to solve real problems, and driven by the belief that running a business in the Virgin Islands shouldn’t be harder than it has to be.
